UFO sighted in Vinaroz in 1983

Summary

In July 1983, a French citizen in Vinaroz (Castellón) observed an unidentified flying object leaving a luminous trail and performing spiral movements in the sky. The witness, along with his family, observed the phenomenon for more than a minute using precision binoculars, but could not identify the object. The Police Municipal recorded the incident and sent it to the Air Force, but the family had already returned to France, making further investigation difficult.

The case also reached the Congress, where a Popular Group member asked questions about the air defense system's response and the possible violation of airspace. Although there was no confirmation of a real threat, reports from pilots and air traffic controllers agreed that there was no air traffic in the area and the object was not detected on radar. Authorities concluded it could be a meteorite or space debris, explanations that did not fully close the case, but provided an official resolution.
