🇧🇷 Fuerza Aérea (Operação Prato)
In May 1986, the Brazilian Air Force (FAB) recorded a UFO incident during an alert mission. A pilot of the Mirage F-5 reported observing an unidentified object (UFO) displaying unusual behavior. The pilot described that the object appeared on the radar screen and was intercepted by two Mirage F-5 fighters. The target maintained variable speed and evolved without a defined pattern, making its identification difficult. The pilot mentioned seeing distinct colored lights (green, red, and white) and that the object quickly moved away when he tried to approach. Onboard instruments showed fluctuations, suggesting the object might have affected electronic systems. Despite efforts, no confirmed visual contact was achieved.
This case is part of a series of declassified reports showing how Brazilian military authorities handled UFO sightings in the 1980s. Although no definitive conclusion was reached, the records indicate that pilots and air traffic controllers took the incidents seriously, evaluating every detail to rule out conventional explanations. The document also includes testimonies from officers describing the experience from different angles, reinforcing the idea that the phenomenon was not ignored.
