In May 1996, the city of Varginha became the epicenter of a UFO case that caused great commotion. Various testimonies and official documents reveal details about the army's activities and civilian visits. An officer, 1st Lieutenant Marcio Luiz Passos Tiberio, was seen multiple times, including a visit to the house of an IT technician, which raised suspicions. Witnesses like 3rd Sergeant Danilo Renato de Lorenzo confirmed that the military were at their posts without notable absences. However, some officials mentioned contacts with civilians such as Ubirajara Rodrigues and Vítorio Pacaccini, who were seeking information about alleged creatures.

The official investigation, led by Colonel Rene Jairo Fagundes, included testimonies from both civil and military personnel.
