Summary

In 1997, a book about an alleged UFO incident in Varginha sparked controversy. The authors, Vítorio Paccacini and Mars Portes, claimed that Brazilian military personnel had captured an extraterrestrial being. According to their account, three teenagers had spotted a strange figure during a storm and the authorities concealed the information. The book included names of officers and suggested the army lied about the incident.

The Military Public Ministry investigated and concluded that the accusations lacked foundation. The military argued that the described events were part of a normal routine and had no connection to an alleged alien capture. Finally, the case was archived due to the lack of elements constituting a crime. Although the authors were criticized for their sensationalist approach, no serious offenses against the military institutions were imputed to them.
