Summary

The Committee for the Study of Aerial Anomalous Phenomena (CEFAA) was established in 1997 as a continuation of earlier efforts, such as the Chilean Commission for the Study of Unidentified Aerial Phenomena from 1968. Its main objective is to investigate reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) in order to support air safety across Chile's vast airspace. Over more than two decades, CEFAA has collaborated with experts in meteorology, air navigation, and other fields, analyzing hundreds of cases. While many of these phenomena have been explained by natural or technological causes, others remain a mystery. CEFAA has organized conferences, published reports, and maintained a database of relevant cases, becoming a key reference in the official investigation of aerial anomalies in the country.
