Summary

An officer and the captain of a ship anchored in Port-Gentil (Gabon) observed an unusual luminous phenomenon on June 1, 1952. At 2:40 AM, the second officer noticed an object emerging from land, stopping, turning right, and resuming its path. This happened twice, with the second turn occurring directly above the ship. The captain, called over, observed through binoculars a very bright circular light moving rapidly in a straight line for three minutes. No other witnesses were found, and hypotheses such as a meteor or missile were not confirmed. The GEIPAN classified the case as D1, indicating an unusual and unidentified phenomenon.
