Summary

In October 1954, two gendarmes in northern France observed a luminous phenomenon crossing the sky from north to south. The horizontal and very bright trajectory lasted about 15 seconds. The conical shape with sparks at the end caught attention, especially under a clear and dark sky. Although the witnesses initially ruled out a meteor, the GEIPAN concluded that they likely saw a fireball caused by a natural meteoroid entering the atmosphere.
