🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On January 19, 1955, three people in Saint-Simon, Aisne, observed a luminous phenomenon moving from the northeast to the southwest. They described a bright white disk followed by a long orange trail. The object made no noise during the five seconds it was visible. The gendarmerie investigation failed to find other witnesses, except for one person who claimed to have seen something but could not specify the date. The GEIPAN classified the case as B, likely attributing it to a bolide, meaning the atmospheric entry of a meteoroid. While unusual, such phenomena can often be explained by natural events and do not necessarily indicate unidentified objects.
