🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On November 24, 1959, around 8:20 PM, a witness at the commercial port of Dakar (Senegal) observed a luminous phenomenon composed of bright points surrounded by a halo. The object was located in the southwest at about 15 degrees altitude. Its speed increased and its trajectory became descending, while the halo progressively darkened until the phenomenon disappeared. The observation lasted five minutes. Although the witness mentioned that three other boats in different locations might have observed the same phenomenon around the same time, only one testimony was collected. The description could resemble a distant airplane seen head-on with lights on, but the GEIPAN classified this case as C due to lack of information.
