Grimaud 1976, Luminous Spherical Object

Summary

On January 10, 1976, between 7:50 and 8:50 AM, two people in the Var region of France observed a very bright spherical object above the horizon. The object remained stationary for the duration it was visible. As the sun rose, the object gradually disappeared from view. The local gendarmerie was contacted quickly but found nothing in the sky that morning or the next day. No other witnesses were reported. Based on the descriptions, it is likely that the observers saw a weather balloon.
