Red circular UFO sighted in France in 1976

Summary

In July 1976, two people in Saint-Geoire-en-Valdaine (France) observed a red, stationary, circular luminous phenomenon. The approximate distance of 2 kilometers prevented them from seeing details, but while one of the witnesses was looking for binoculars, the object moved westward and disappeared. There were no other witnesses or additional reports. The gendarmerie investigated the area and found a 50-meter dirt path leading west to an unknown and unclassified road. The possibility of a vehicle was considered, but due to the distance and lack of details, the phenomenon could not be identified with certainty.
