Red ball and white light in the Pyrenees

On August 28, 1976, around 4:30 AM, a witness in the Pyrenees-Orientales observed a luminous phenomenon in a cloudy sky. A bright red ball passed quickly and silently over him, disappearing behind the landscape. His dog was frightened by the event. Later, the witness noticed a white light in the shape of a half-moon, stationary behind a tree line in the direction the phenomenon had vanished.
