On October 12, 1977, at 5:45 AM, a driver in Saint-Aubin-de-Médoc (Gironde) observed an object in the sky surrounded by an orange halo that appeared to vibrate or oscillate. The testimony was very brief, and no other witnesses were reported by the gendarmerie or the Floirac observatory. Although the account lacks detail, it is likely that the observer saw the rising sun (which rose that day at 5:20 AM) through a cloud, which could explain the phenomenon.
This case was classified as "B" by the GEIPAN, indicating no clear explanation was found, but it was not considered an unexplained phenomenon either. The lack of additional testimonies and the brevity of the report limited the possibility of a deeper investigation. Nonetheless, the case remains interesting due to its visual description and the astronomical context.
