In January 1978, a group of witnesses in Gordes (France) observed several mysterious luminous phenomena while driving on the D177 road. The incident was reported decades later, in 2011, and classified as case "C" by the GEIPAN due to insufficient information to conclude. The lights, silent and in white and red colors, moved in groups and with the wind direction. Initially thought to be the planet Jupiter, the possibility of Thai lanterns was considered, although these were rare in France at the time. However, it was not confirmed that their movement matched the weather conditions.

The case remains enigmatic, as some observations could not be explained by conventional objects like the Moon or vehicles on the road. Despite the confusion caused by the emotional impact of the second observation, the testimony partially aligns with known objects, though unexplained phenomena cannot be ruled out.
