On February 26, 1978, around 2:30 AM, several people in Beauvoir sur Niort (France) observed a bright, silver-colored object in the sky. Witnesses described a luminous explosion that vanished instantly, without making any sound. That same night, gendarmes reported flashes coming from distant storms. It is likely that the witnesses mistook this phenomenon for a light source related to the storm, such as lightning or an atmospheric event. Despite the unusual nature of the occurrence, no physical evidence or additional testimonies were found to confirm the presence of an extraterrestrial craft.
