Summary

On August 15, 1978, between 9:00 and 9:10 PM, several witnesses in the departments of Gard and Ardèche observed a reddish luminous phenomenon moving from southwest to northeast. They described an incandescent ball followed by a trail. Interestingly, no sound was heard during the observation. This case was classified as a probable atmospheric entry, suggesting it could have been a meteorite or a natural object entering the atmosphere at high speed.
