🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In October 1978, two witnesses in Niegnies (France) observed a fire-colored luminous sphere above the fields. The object remained stationary for several minutes, surrounded by an incomplete red circle, without emitting any sound. Despite the duration and characteristics similar to the setting Moon, the witnesses did not identify it as such. The GEIPAN classified the case as PAN A, attributing it to a misinterpretation of the observation. The Moon was present in the sky, but the witnesses did not mention it, suggesting that their visual perception was not at fault, but rather their emotional interpretation.
