Summary

In January 1979, two witnesses in the Aisne region of France observed a luminous phenomenon in the sky. A bright sphere, larger than the stars, was moving silently from east to south. Although the main witness provided few details, investigators never questioned their credibility. The case was reclassified in 2008 as PAN B by the GEIPAN, due to its similarity with Venus. The description of the object matched the characteristics of the planet, visible in the observed area. Despite the low strangeness of the case, the lack of additional testimonies and the imprecision in the report made a clearer identification difficult.
