In March 1979, five workers in the Loire region observed an unusual luminous phenomenon. At 7:25 AM, they saw an orange light the size of a soccer ball slowly moving from east to west. The descending trajectory of the object was clearly visible for about 30 seconds. Despite its apparent size, no noise was heard. The presence of a white trail suggested that it might be an object entering the atmosphere. Eventually, the object disappeared behind the horizon, leaving the witnesses intrigued by what they had seen.
Researchers concluded that it was most likely a space object entering Earth's atmosphere. Given the observation time and the presence of a trail, it is considered to be a space debris. This case, classified as B by the GEIPAN, shows how natural events can be mistaken for unexplained phenomena. Although no conclusive evidence was found, the testimony of the five workers remains an interesting record of an unusual aerial observation.
