Summary

On the early morning of May 25, 1979, two police officers on duty in Lyon observed a luminous phenomenon in the sky. They saw four oval-shaped, white-yellow lights moving at low altitude. The lights passed over them before heading southeast. The witnesses could not determine if it was a single object or multiple ones. They also heard a faint humming sound before the phenomenon disappeared. There were no equipment interferences. Although the possibility of an approaching aircraft was considered, the description and proximity to airports suggest a conventional explanation.
