A UFO case observed in 1979 in Frejus, France, describes a very bright spherical object seen by two witnesses. The object displayed complex movements, descending from clouds, jumping between hills, and stopping. Although no other testimonies or radar confirmation were found, the GEIPAN re-examined the case with new tools and experience. They concluded that strong winds and weather conditions could explain the object's behavior. It is likely a Mylar balloon, a reflective balloon filled with helium that can float for weeks and move with the wind.
The difficulty in estimating distances and speeds can make objects appear more unusual than they are. Mylar balloons, with their metallic surface, intensely reflect sunlight, making them visible from afar. However, their shape is only clearly perceived up close. This case, initially classified as unexplained, is now considered explained by a common earthly phenomenon.
