Summary

In July 1979, several witnesses in Annecy observed a bright object in the sky for twenty minutes. It was described as an ovoid shape ranging from 80 cm to 5 meters in diameter, appearing metallic or black depending on the observer's location. The object hovered over a house before rising and moving away silently. Despite the unusual appearance and lack of noise, authorities reported no unusual flights or advertising balloons in the area during that time. Witnesses insisted the object was not a balloon, though its description and movement were similar.
