Summary

On August 11, 1979, several witnesses in Mirebeau observed an unusual luminous phenomenon. As the sun was setting, three red-orange rings appeared on the horizon, below a cloudy layer. The rings then transformed into a horizontal line that quickly disappeared towards the north. Despite the novelty of the event, no other testimonies were recorded in the area. Investigators suggest it could have been an optical phenomenon caused by the setting sun reflecting off a low cloud cover. While rare, such events have natural explanations and do not necessarily involve unidentified flying objects.
