Orange ball with erratic movements in Decize

Summary

On December 5, 1979, a witness in Decize (Nièvre) observed an orange-sized ball with orange reflections. It spun on its axis while alternately rising and falling, producing no sound. After fifteen minutes it disappeared rapidly toward the southeast. The following day, at the same time, the object reappeared, this time changing size three times before vanishing westward. Only one other witness had seen something similar months earlier. The case remains unexplained.
