On January 13, 1980, at 7:10 AM, a customs officer driving through the Gironde region spotted a saucer-shaped object with flashing lights at its edges. He estimated its diameter at five to six meters. The object moved away slowly at an estimated 30 to 40 km/h, producing no sound during the five-minute observation.
