On January 5, 1980, several witnesses and gendarmes in Bourgneuf-en-Retz observed a very bright light in the afternoon sky that appeared to change shape and color. Although initially considered unexplainable, investigators concluded it was most likely Venus. The case was classified as B by GEIPAN.
