Summary

At 22:20 on 23 March 1980, several witnesses alerted police to bright lights apparently moving near the ground close to the Mont Caume television tower. Officers responded quickly and found newly installed signal beacons at the base of the tower. Other flashes visible from the site turned out to be car headlights, village lighting, and urban reflectors. Fog and poor weather had amplified the confusion. The investigation ruled out any anomalous element.
