🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
On May 15, 1980, a witness in Seine-Maritime saw a bright oval-shaped object streak across the sky at high speed. It was red-orange with a visible tail, far brighter than any star, and disappeared westward after several minutes. No other testimonies were collected. Investigators suggested a possible meteoric atmospheric entry, though without certainty. GEIPAN classified the case as B, leaving the door open to a conventional explanation without being able to fully confirm it.
