Mushroom-shaped luminous object over Sainte-Soline

Summary

On the evening of August 16, 1980, a witness in Sainte-Soline spotted a mushroom cap-shaped object hovering over a field. The object, estimated at about 15 meters in diameter, emitted an intense red light. The witness approached to within roughly 400 meters but fled in fear. While escaping, they watched the object fly silently over the village, still glowing red. No ground marks or vegetation damage were found. The case remains unexplained.
