One September night in 1980, eight people in Plestin-les-Grèves saw two very bright red spheres in the sky. What alarmed them most was that the objects appeared to follow their vehicle. The gendarmerie interviewed three of the witnesses, and a local resident also reported seeing a red sphere near a forest.
Originally classified as D, the case was later reviewed. Investigators suggested a possible confusion with parachute signal flares commonly launched from the sea. However, the duration of the phenomenon does not match the expected lifespan of such flares. Insufficient precise data prevents a definitive conclusion.
