Elongated object at low altitude lighting up a road sign in Courlay

Summary

In the early hours of September 10, 1980, a witness in Courlay saw a bright light illuminate a road sign about a hundred meters from their home. There were no cars or noise. They made out an elongated object jerking along at about 1.5 meters above the ground. The object gradually ascended until it disappeared. No unusual smell was noticed and there were no other witnesses. GEIPAN classified the case as C due to the lack of additional information.
