Summary

Over several nights in October 1980, a witness in Couëron noticed two fixed luminous points in the sky. Venus and Jupiter were especially visible at that time of year. The witness, who had some astronomical knowledge, identified both planets but felt the luminous points did not behave like conventional celestial objects. GEIPAN classified the case as A, meaning the explanation was identified: the observed objects were Venus and Jupiter.
