Summary

In the fall of 1981, three witnesses near the French-Spanish border observed a red luminous object moving from north to south. The sightings recurred on the nights of October 19 and 27 and November 3, always between 11:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The consistency in timing, direction, and color suggests a recurring phenomenon. Gendarmes conducted a thorough investigation, ruling out conventional explanations such as aircraft or known celestial bodies, yet were unable to identify the source. Classified as D by GEIPAN, the case remains unsolved.
