Large orange cylindrical object in the Var region in 1981

Summary

At dawn on October 9, 1981, a witness observed from his garden in Plan-d'Aups-Sainte-Baume a large cylindrical object roughly one hundred meters away. He estimated it at 1.5 meters in diameter and about 30 meters tall. For six minutes, the object displayed an orange core that faded to yellow and white at the edges. There were no other witnesses or physical evidence. Although the description was detailed, it was insufficient to determine the nature of the phenomenon, and GEIPAN classified the case as unexplored due to lack of complementary data.
