On November 1, 1981, several witnesses in Marseille observed a gray cylindrical object about four meters long gliding silently toward the sea. Investigation revealed it was an advertising balloon launched by children from the terrace of the Le Corbusier building, located roughly 300 meters from the sighting location. A classic example of how everyday objects can be mistaken for unexplained phenomena when seen from unusual angles or under particular lighting conditions.
