On November 22, 1981, several witnesses in Finistère — including two gendarmes — saw a reddish ball appear suddenly over a field near an airport. It was roughly football-sized and remained motionless before vanishing silently. The gendarmes described an orange luminous ball that seemed to descend toward the runway as if to land, growing larger as it dropped. A firefighter alerted the control tower, but the object disappeared instantly. No ground traces were found, though radar recorded a blip between 7:50 and 8:04. The phenomenon remains unexplained.
