Two gendarmes on patrol along the A10 motorway in January 1982 observed a strange light in the sky that illuminated the ground in a focused beam. Conventional explanations such as aircraft or helicopters were ruled out, and enquiries with the nearby military base and the motorway operator revealed no activity that could account for the light.
