A witness in Salins in February 1982 first saw a large luminous ball with orange flames. Twenty minutes later three balls appeared about one metre above the ground, each a different colour: red, green and orange. The phenomenon made no sound and remained visible for over two and a half hours, though the witness did not see it disappear as they went back to watching television.
Originally deemed unexplainable, GEIPAN re-examined the case with more modern methods. The main difficulty lies in the absence of angular measurements, precise movement data and confirmation of the disappearance. The testimony also contains contradictions and omissions of key details that affect its reliability. The case was therefore reclassified as C: insufficient information for a conclusive assessment.
