Slow luminous phenomenon over La Réunion

Summary

On 3 April 1982 several people on La Réunion island observed a luminous phenomenon moving very slowly from north to south. Its unusual colour and trajectory drew the witnesses' attention. The director of the volcanological observatory suggested it could be a natural object such as a meteorite or a man-made object such as a rocket stage. The observation was recorded by GEIPAN as a case of interest, though no definitive identification was achieved.
