Summary

During March 1984, the La Foa area of New Caledonia produced several reports of luminous phenomena on different dates and times. Two observers traveling by car described a persistent light lasting over two hours, which analysis attributed to Venus. Other accounts proved harder to resolve: a white light ball seen from a house could not be explained with certainty, and a reported "band of light" defied precise identification.

The investigation uncovered inconsistencies in several testimonies. One witness could not recall the exact date, suggesting the experience was not striking enough to be clearly fixed in memory. GEIPAN concluded that some phenomena, such as the Venus sighting, had clear explanations, while others remained inconclusive due to unreliable data.
