🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In January 1985, two observations in the Vaucluse region were initially recorded as unexplained phenomena. The first, on January 14, described a color-changing luminous sphere that seemed to follow a vehicle; GEIPAN determined it was an optical illusion caused by the near-sunset Sun seen through clouds. The second, on January 2, involved a stationary light identified as the planet Mars. Both cases were reclassified as misidentifications of celestial bodies — an example of how reviewing old files with modern tools can bring resolution.
