Barras 1985, reddish point that took on a delta-triangle shape

Summary

At around 23:15 on 1 August 1985 a witness in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence saw a slightly reddish luminous point, star-like, that began moving vertically over the village. During its ascent it changed colour and intensity and took on a delta-triangle shape before shooting away horizontally at high speed. Seconds after the vertical movement the witness heard a dull noise. As it receded the object reverted to a simple luminous point. No other observations of the phenomenon were recorded.
