Hardened earth circle and column of light in Pré-en-Pail

Summary

In June 1986, a circle of hardened earth 1.10 metres across appeared in a chicken coop in Pré-en-Pail. Within a 0.40-metre ring around it, the soil did not absorb water and vegetation was sparse or absent. Witnesses reported itching when approaching. Two other people said they had seen an intense white column of light nearby during the same period. A fairy ring caused by fungi that inhibit vegetation was considered, but it did not account for the physical discomfort described, which could not be confirmed by other means.

GEIPAN classified the case as C. Neither conventional causes nor the reported anomalies could be conclusively verified, leaving the origin of the phenomenon undetermined.
