Airbus test flight mistaken for UFO in the Pyrenees

Summary

On October 31, 2017, three witnesses in a garden in Hautes-Pyrénées spotted a luminous point to the east that soon revealed three white lights seemingly positioned at the extremities of an anthracite-colored object. It made no noise and disappeared when its lights went off. GEIPAN's investigation concluded it was an Airbus on a test flight. Such flights at low altitude with lights on can appear unusual from the ground. The aircraft's trajectory, spanning over sixty kilometers, explained its apparent motionlessness in the sky. Despite overall consistency in the observations, testimonies showed some inconsistencies and lacked technical data such as photo metadata.
