Summary

On October 20, 1988, two witnesses in Sisteron (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) observed a light blue luminous ball descending rapidly along a vertical trajectory, leaving behind a trail of yellow and orange sparks. The phenomenon lasted just two to three seconds and was completely silent. The detailed description provided by the witnesses led investigators to consider it highly likely to be a celestial body entering the atmosphere. GEIPAN classified the case as B, deeming it an explainable natural phenomenon.
