In December 1988, a witness in Dordogne observed an intense blue-violet light, brighter than a welding arc, moving in a straight line about sixty meters away. The round shape traveled silently at high speed, and the sighting lasted three to four seconds. During the observation, the witness felt pressure and an electric shock sensation; their dog fled to the house ignoring commands.
The investigation pointed to an electrical phenomenon. The sighting occurred near an intersection of power lines and a transformer, and neighbors recorded a voltage drop at the same moment. The most likely hypothesis is that a luminous ball formed through air ionization in the presence of an intense electric field. GEIPAN classified the case as B, attributing it to an electrical and plasma phenomenon.
