Three zigzagging lights over Neuvelle-les-Lure in 1989

Summary

At 23:15 on 30 May 1989, three forest rangers in Neuvelle-les-Lure witnessed something hard to explain. Three bright spotlights appeared in the sky, emitting intense flashes at very short intervals. After a few seconds of hovering, the lights rose vertically at high speed in a zigzag pattern. Moments later, the object returned to its starting point, stopped, switched on a red light, and disappeared again, changing direction several times. The entire event was completely silent.

A Jaguar fighter jet passed through the area shortly after, but the witnesses stated it bore no resemblance to the phenomenon. Inquiries at the nearby air base failed to confirm the sighting. With no possible identification, the case remains unresolved in GEIPAN's files.
