Lantefontaine 1991, Venus recording mistaken for UFO

Summary

In October 1991, two witnesses in Lantefontaine recorded with a camcorder a very bright point that appeared and disappeared in the sky. When zooming in they thought they could make out a sphere with two notches, but the effect turned out to be a lens distortion. Gendarmes also noticed a fixed bright point in the same direction. After astronomical analysis, GEIPAN confirmed that Venus was in that part of the sky at maximum brightness and classified the case as A — fully identified.
