Flashing red mass on the Sapois–Vagney road

Summary

At about 17:00 on 12 November 1992, a motorist on the D23 between Sapois and Vagney (Vosges) was startled by a large, flashing red mass that approached his vehicle rapidly and silently. The object came within roughly fifty metres and the encounter lasted only seconds, yet it left a strong impression. No conventional origin could be identified. Classified D by GEIPAN, the case remains unexplained.
