Luminous sphere and flashes over Saint-Denis, Réunion

Summary

On 16 November 1992, a resident of Saint-Denis (Réunion) was woken by a loud noise resembling a jet engine, accompanied by two flashes that lit up his bedroom. He saw a large, intensely bright white sphere that lingered for a few seconds before vanishing. At that moment a nearby empty house was bathed in red light, and the object disappeared with another audible burst. Afterwards, a red dot persisted above a tree and a faint mist hung over the area.

No other direct witnesses came forward, though a neighbour reported his dogs were frightened. No material damage was recorded. The phenomenon could not be identified.
